The first floor of Café Tante Roosje is perfect for parties, birthdays, a walking dinner or a sweet 18/21. All of it overlooking the wonderful, always lively Rembrandtplein.

The room is available from 20 people for everyone aged 18 or over (our door policy). Decorations? When the room is yours for the evening, go wild. An extensive dinner or a walking dinner beforehand, your own artist or one we arrange together: almost anything is possible. We do not work with drink packages.

Upstairs you get a café of your own: a private bar with draught beer and your own bar staff, your own music and the windows on the square. Curtains closed, party music on: from 20 guests the room is yours for the evening. Decorate as you like, bring an artist or let us arrange one, and eat beforehand at the table or as a walking dinner.

For large groups the ground floor can be hired by arrangement: the bar under the crystal chandeliers, the chesterfields, the wall of enamel signs and the terrace on Rembrandtplein. Up to 150 guests, with live entertainment or our DJ.

Birthday

No birthday without a proper party. With friends and/or family: how did you picture your ideal birthday? Or could you use some advice? We gladly help you make it an unforgettable night.

Company party

Something to celebrate? We are ready for all your parties and think along with you in everything. Decorate as you like, arrange an artist together with us or bring your own, and a dinner or walking dinner beforehand is easily done.

Bachelor party

What happens in Tante Roosje, stays in Tante Roosje. A bachelor party deserves a proper celebration and we gladly help: a private room with plenty of drinks and a programme to your liking.

Drinks

Fancy a private drinks party and choosing the guest list yourself? Our first-floor café is yours: your own music, your own bar staff and your own party. Ask us about the options.

Brunch with drinks

Ideal for a Sunday afternoon: skip the coffee and start with champagne. We close the curtains, put the party music on and you make it your own party, with snacks and drinks (or drinks only, that works too).

Dinner

We can arrange almost anything. A three-course dinner with chicken satay and burgers, a more luxurious version with fish, Surinamese or Italian, or would you rather have a buffet? Bring on those wishes.

Walking dinner

While you drink and dance we come round in several rounds with small, well-filled bites. This too can be arranged entirely to your liking.

Meeting

Away from the office walls, meeting in a café? You can with us: a microphone, proper sound and a room of your own. Soft drinks, coffee and tea, and a lunch or dinner afterwards, we arrange it.

Baby shower

Looking for the perfect place to put your friend in the spotlight? We turn our first-floor café into a pink or blue baby room. Simple or completely over the top: anything goes, as long as it is fun.

Frequently asked questions about hire

From how many guests can I hire?

The first floor is yours from 20 guests, up to 60. For larger groups the whole café downstairs can be hired by arrangement, up to 150 guests.

What does the room cost?

Nothing: we do not charge room hire and we do not work with drink packages. You pay for what is drunk and eaten. We make a tailored proposal beforehand.

Can I decorate the room?

Yes. When the room is yours for the evening, go wild: balloons, garlands, your own decorations.

Can I bring my own artist or DJ?

Certainly. Bring your own artist or let us work out together what fits; there is a music computer and the DJ from downstairs can play upstairs. Microphone and sound are in place.

What can we eat?

From a platter of cold and hot bar snacks to a three-course dinner, a buffet or a walking dinner in rounds. Chicken satay and burgers, or something more luxurious with fish, Surinamese or Italian: bring on those wishes.

Is there an age limit?

Yes, because of our door policy the first floor is available for groups aged 18 and over.

Can I hold a meeting or presentation?

Yes: a microphone, proper sound, Wi-Fi and a room entirely your own. Soft drinks, coffee and tea included, and we arrange a lunch or dinner afterwards.

Until what time can the party go on?

In principle until the café closes: Monday to Thursday 01:00, Friday and Saturday 02:00, Sunday 00:00. Other times by arrangement.

How do my guests get there by public transport?

The Rembrandtplein tram stop is at the door (trams 4 and 14 from Central Station). By metro: 51, 53 or 54 to Waterlooplein, then five minutes across the Blauwbrug to the square. Taxis stop on the square.

Where can we park?

Car park The Bank is around the corner on Amstelstraat (book ahead); P1 Waterlooplein by the Opera is the roomy alternative. Bikes go in the side streets or along the canal, not on the square itself.
